SoHo Loft Residential Design Concept

This SoHo loft was designed as both a sanctuary and a multifunctional creative hub, supporting living, entertaining, and artistic ideation. With a strong appreciation for craftsmanship, the client is an avid collector of contemporary glass sculptures and owns a statement painting by Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton, which served as a primary source of inspiration for the interior palette and conceptual direction.

The design balances industrial sophistication with warmth, creating an open, gallery-inspired apartment that feels airy, intentional, and grounded in material honesty. Exposed brick, warm leather, and tailored lighting reference SoHo’s architectural character, while clean lines, mid-century modern silhouettes, and simple forms provide a calm backdrop that allows the artwork to take center stage. Circulation paths, wall placement, and lighting are carefully considered to highlight the art collection and maintain visual flow throughout the space. Subtle nods to the client’s Australian roots introduce a sense of familiarity and calm, while integrated technology, particularly the television—is seamlessly incorporated to preserve a cohesive, gallery-like environment that celebrates both art and lifestyle.
